The Blacksburg Library
Many of Dan’s friends have asked if there is somewhere to make donations in his name. His sister sent us this:
While the best way to celebrate Dan’s life is to embrace the day & those close to you, if anyone asks about a donation in Dan’s name, we’d like to point folks to the Blacksburg Library. It’s our dear little hometown library, and is a sunny, vibrant space (housed in a former hardware store). It was a favorite place of Dan’s when we were children and probably helped foster his lifelong love of books and words. Even as an adult, he’d make a point of stopping back in when he was in town. We’ve spoken with them and there are a couple of ways people can make a donation.
• Mailing a check (old-school) is the most straightforward, and people can note on there that it’s in memory of Dan, for the Blacksburg Branch, and if they would like it put towards something specific (books, programs, etc.). It can be mailed to the library directly:
200 Miller St
Blacksburg, VA 24060
• There’s also a donation button on the website, link is here: https://www.mfrl.org/mfrlfoundation.php and if people will email the library director, Karim Khan, at firstname.lastname@example.org with the same information (in memory of Dan, for the Blacksburg Branch, and any specific usage), he’ll make record of it.
By including Dan’s name, the library says they’ll be able to let our family know how much was donated in his name and the donors’ names.
